ELECTION 2010

Pundits across America are already busy trying to interpret the results of yesterday's mid-term elections. Partisan Republicans are cheering their historic gains in the House of Representatives. Loyal Democrats are enthusiastic about maintaining control of the Senate while gaining the governor's mansion in California. Those involved in the 'Tea Party' groundswell are pointing to their ability to motivate citizens across the nation. It seems that everyone has a reason to celebrate.

Something to remember, though - the same two-party system that brought us bankruptcy and bailouts remains in power. "Change?" Sorry, not here.

A bright spot for free-thinking Ohioans was the number of Libertarian candidates on the 2010 ballot. Much work remains to be done with regard to forming a viable third-party in American politics. But the desire exists. Voters are restless in this nation. Consider that we elected Obama in 2008, yet handed control of The House to John  Boehner only two years later. Our people are unhappy with government. Period.

As Thomas Jefferson said: "The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions that I wish it to always be kept alive."

The struggle continues!
